SELF CONFIDENCE HACKS

In the words of Iris from ‘The Holiday’…

“You’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life for God’s sake!”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. So do you struggle with self-confidence? Do you find yourself not taking opportunities or not joining in for fear of failure or standing out for the wrong reasons?

We’ve put together some hacks to help boost your self-confidence and self-esteem and give you that little helping hand to get out there and start making the most of what comes your way…

#1 Wear what makes you feel good

If it makes you feel good, WEAR IT. If it doesn’t make you feel good, DON’T WEAR IT! It’s that simple. Don’t ever wear something just to fit in. If you don’t feel comfortable in short skirts or crop tops, then don’t wear them just because your friends are! It’s impossible to feel confident in an outfit you hate. Find your own style that you feel good in.

#2 Remember NOBODY is perfect

(Despite what you see on Insta and TIK TOK)

Be the best version of yourself, don’t worry about what anyone else is doing.  Accept that perfection is an unrealistic goal, do you really think that the lives you see on social media are that perfect? Trust us they are not, it’s just an illusion.

#3 Be nice to yourself

Get rid of that negative voice.  Would you tell your best friend they were a failure, embarrassing or rubbish at something? No you wouldn’t, so why the hell do you think it’s ok to do it to yourself?

#4 Surround yourself with a supportive squad

Find people who make you feel good about yourself and avoid those who tend to trigger your negative thoughts, this includes social media! Feel free to unfollow accounts that make you feel like crap!

#5 Leave Yourself Love Notes

Yeah, we know this sounds cringe, but a bit of self love goes a long way. Leave yourself a little note of encouragement or a ‘well done” message.  Putting up post-it notes on mirrors, or on your phone screensaver can really really help. Think of something you would say to your Best Friend if she was having a bad day. ‘You look great today’, ‘You nailed that reading in class’…These will lift your mood and being told consistently that you are ace will give you confidence.

#6 You do you

Don’t compare yourself to other people, it will never lead to happiness. Try to focus on your own goals and achievements, rather than measuring them against someone else’s. Nobody needs that kind of pressure!

#7 Remember that everyone makes mistakes

You’ve got to make mistakes in order to learn and grow, so try not to beat yourself up about them. Don’t dwell on them, it won’t change anything and will just swallow up the energy you need to move on. Everybody else will have forgotten about it while you are still worrying.

#8 Get movin’

DANCE! There is no better way to get rid of those insecurities than putting on your favourite tune and throwing yourself around your bedroom. Nobody is watching so you can’t feel self conscious. Exercise releases serotonin, which makes you feel good, running might not be for you, dancing is for everyone!

#9 And don’t forget….Walk like you are the leading character
